GATEWAY AND YAHOO! LAUNCH CO-BRANDED SERVICE

Gateway My Yahoo! Personalizes Internet Experience for gateway.net Subscribers


SAN DIEGO, CA. and SANTA CLARA, CA. -- Feb. 3, 1999 -- Gateway (NYSE: GTW), a preeminent direct marketer of technology solutions for clients worldwide, and Yahoo!  Inc. (NASDAQ: YHOO), a global Internet media company, today announced the forthcoming availability of new co-branded, personalized Web pages, to gateway.netSM Internet access subscribers.

Starting on Friday, February 5th, select Gateway systems will begin selling with the Gateway My Yahoo! start page established as the default home page for gateway.net subscribers, allowing clients to personalize their Internet experience with such information as updated national news, sports and financial information and local weather reports. The Gateway My Yahoo! start page also includes a customized service area for subscribers to access Gateway technical support, gateway.com, gateway.net account information and an Internet tutorial.

This co-branded feature combines the resources of two leading technology brands by providing consumers access to Yahoo!'s rich content and merchant services, as well as Gateway's award-winning customer service.  In 1997, Gateway became the first direct PC marketer to form a nationwide Internet Service Provider (ISP) with gateway.net Internet service.

Gateway.net features easy setup, quality service and a variety of content.  The service is integrated into the PC, with no separate configuration steps required.  Through Gateway's agreement with Yahoo!, it is anticipated new gateway.net subscribers will begin receiving their systems Internet-ready with their registration process synchronized between gateway.net and Yahoo! within the first quarter of 1999.

Make the Internet Your Own

The co-branded Gateway My Yahoo! default start page allows gateway.net subscribers rapid access to the Internet, as well as to Gateway's promotions, products and online customer support.  By leveraging all of the content and services available through Yahoo!, gateway.net offers subscribers value-added features in online personalization, content, communications, community and commerce.

Personalization: As a registered Gateway My Yahoo! user, the entire suite of Yahoo!'s 13 member services including travel reservations and ticket purchases, shopping, auctions, classifieds, chat, clubs, address book, email, instant messaging, message boards, and games are available to gateway.net subscribers.  Portfolios, community tools, financial market news and investment research drawn from Yahoo! Finance are also personalized through the Gateway My Yahoo! default start page. 

Content: Subscribers to gateway.net will find all the quality Internet programming and services currently found on Yahoo!.  Yahoo! provides comprehensive content for popular areas such as News, Sports, Personal Finance, Entertainment and Travel.  Users also have one-click access to Yahoo!'s global Web network of 15 world properties, which subscribers can seamlessly access.

Community and Communications: With Yahoo! community and communications tools including chat, clubs, classifieds, instant messaging and message boards, subscribers never need to be out of touch with friends, family or others who share similar interests.

Commerce:  gateway.net subscribers have access to Yahoo! Shopping's growing directory of products and services. Through Yahoo! Shopping, gateway.net subscribers have 24-hour access to the most popular online product and service categories such as apparel, music, books and software.
